Well, it’s been a journey to get here, and we know there’s a beautiful road winding ahead of us even now, but right now we are celebrating that Open House is open for business!
We’ve pulled together a programme of events stretching up to the end of the year that we hope will bless our neighbours in Hunsdon. You can look straight away on the What’s On page for the whole calendar, or read some of our articles to see what takes your fancy. And don’t forget to sign up to our priority mailing list using our simple form!
Open Church
The first of our events, quite appropriately, is our Open Church day on 18th May. We picked this day because it’s the nearest weekend-day to St Dunstan’s day (19th May), so a good opportunity to celebrate the building which bears his name. There are lots of activities for people of all ages, so we hope there will be a steady stream of guests throughout the afternoon. There’s a church service at 11am which finishes with refreshments at 12pm, so we’re inviting people to bring a picnic lunch either to eat in the grounds or to sit inside where we have arranged for Graham Harvey to play some jazz piano from 1pm. Check out the day’s full programme here and book your place.
Beating the Bounds
Coming up hot on its heels is our Bank Holiday Walk on May 26th. One of the great things about living in Hunsdon is the surrounding countryside and the opportunity we have to enjoy it from so many footpaths. Our first walk begins at the Crown pub at 10am. See all the information and let us know you’re coming at this link!
Art Workshops
Or maybe art is your thing. We’ve arranged for local artist, Laura Pitman, to lead some Art Workshops at the Village Hall. There are two in June and two in September. She’s doing them in pairs – one daytime and one evening – hoping that nobody will be left out. Again, there’s more information here. Please do book your place (it’s free) because numbers are limited.
Onward…
Looking further ahead, we’ve already booked an evening of comedy to make the darkening skies of late September feel less sad. If you’re intrigued about the Christian faith, there will be a chance to explore the basics in a discussion series through the autumn, and we will round off the year with a good sing of Carols by Starlight. That’s just so far, and that’s just 2025…
We hope you will join us for something new.
