The Big Quiz Night

Test your knowledge. Build your community. End extreme poverty.

That’s the strapline for this quiz. Every year, hundreds of churches join in Tearfund’s Big Quiz Night to raise funds for their appeals whilst creating fun community events in towns and villages all over the country. And this year, we get to join in!

So it’s a quiz. We all know what one of those is. But the Big Quiz Night is different because participants are part of a nationwide event. Towards the end of the event, we anticipate being able to login live to the “Tearfund Totaliser” to find out how many people have been quizzing with us!

We’ll post a bit more information about the event nearer the time on the booking page with details of team size and entry price etc. For now, do SAVE THE DATE – 15th November, 7:30pm!

The money our quiz raises will support Tearfund’s Transforming Communities programme, helping local churches around the world lead their communities out of extreme poverty and into a sustainable future.

It will support people like Pastor Mwai in Malawi, who attended Tearfund’s training and was able to lead her church in restoring the environment by planting fruit trees and many others.

“Before, reckless cutting of trees was common, but as of now, when someone cuts a tree, they plant over ten more as a replacement. We planted a lot of trees in our communities through this [Tearfund] training.”

Pastor Mwai Chimombo, Malawi

Tearfund is a Christian charity with over 50 years of experience in international development. We believe that poverty is not God’s plan, and an end to extreme poverty is possible.

We work directly, and/or alongside local partners and churches, in underserved communities in more than 50 countries to tackle complex poverty in three main ways:

  • Advocacy and influencing
We help individuals and churches speak out on issues of poverty and injustice, and we challenge unjust policies and practices at a local, national and global level.
  • Humanitarian response
We respond quickly to disasters and conflicts, supporting those in greatest need throughout the recovery process.
  • Community development
We partner with local churches and organisations, mobilising resources and empowering communities to lift themselves out of poverty.
