Capturing the Beauty of Harvest

A watercolour paint palette.

Following her two summer art workshops in Hunsdon Village Hall, local artist, Laura Pitman, is back with two more in September, this time on the theme of Harvest.

The village of Hunsdon is surrounded by fields which see activity all through the year, and no more so than at harvest time when residents hear the combines working, often late into the night. In days when most of us get our food pre-packaged from the supermarkets, the sight and sounds of farm contractors labouring is perhaps a reminder of our dependence on the fruit of the earth (and on other people); the countryside is an ever-changing and beautiful backdrop to our lives, and we should surely be grateful to those who manage and maintain it.

These two art workshops provide an opportunity celebrate the harvest – to draw or paint fruit and vegetables from the land. Come along to give your creativity an outlet!

No prior experience is necessary, just come and have a go! Or if you are an experienced artist, come and enjoy making some art in the company of others.

Materials will be provided. We’ll have everything you need such as charcoal, pencils, paper, acrylic and watercolour paints, brushes, paper for collaging, glue, rubbers etc. We recommend you bring your own apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting mucky! If have your own materials and would rather work with them, you are welcome to bring them.

When you draw or paint, it can be therapeutic as your focus changes to what you are doing with your hands and seeing with your eyes.  People often think “I can’t do art” but when they start, they realise they can! Drawing and painting is such an adventure!

Places are limited. Reserve yours (free) via our calendar:
