Seven Conversations Centred on Who Life is All About

A thumbprint, and the text: Christianity Explored. What's the best news you've ever heard? From April 15th

After half a century of relative peace, our world has shifted. Uncertainty and unease abound. News reports of bombings and death are inescapable. Politics has become polarised. Culture is changing fast and a lot of people are feeling the ground shifting beneath their feet.

Among the young, there’s a new openness to the spiritual things rejected by their parents, and sales of the Bible are on the increase. Among the older, there’s a desire to get back to the familiar. Comedian Jason Manford released an album of “Assembly Bangers” and James Partridge’s similar performance of well-known primary school hymns at the Glastonbury Festival in 2025 was so popular people had to be turned away. People are talking about Christian values, Christian heritage and even our “Christian nation.” But what is Christianity?

Christianity isn’t just a set of ideas, rules, or philosophies. At its heart, it’s about a person to know – a person who shows us exactly what God is like, and what he thinks. Christianity is about Jesus Christ.

Over seven sessions, Christianity Explored takes you through the Gospel of Mark – an eyewitness testimony about who Jesus is, why he came, and what it means for us today.

We’ll share a meal together then watch a short film to kick off the conversation. Come with your questions, but be prepared for the answers to surprise you.

Christianity Explored is a series of seven discussions which follow on from one another. It is not the kind of group to which you can drop in occasionally, though if you were to miss one (e.g. through sickness, you could catch up) . Registration here is for the whole programme: Wednesday evenings, 15th April – 27th May.
