The first thing we had to do in planning our event programme was to consider our local context. What events were already taking place? When and where were they being hosted? Who was organising them and who were the likely attendees?
It quickly became clear that certain times of the year were less busy than others. In establishing our programme, we looked not to compete with existing offerings but, on the one hand, to complement them with associated events and, on the other, to provide different activities at different times of year.
It was important for us to ensure that all our events would provide high-quality hospitality to guests. Accordingly, we chose not to arrange something every month, but to focus our attention on getting a smaller number of events perfect.
